Eliminate Positioning Error on Aerospace Machine
Customer's Problem
A machine builder for
the Aerospace industry needed to build a 100 meter long machine with
very precise positioning accuracy over the whole travel. They were
concerned about any cumulative error that would be seen on such a long
machine, as well as the problem of making sure the mounting hole
locations matched the tapped holes in the machine bed.
Atlanta's Solution
Atlanta eliminated the
cumulative error of the rack by offering matched racks, which made it
possible to achieve zero cumulative error over the entire travel length.
To ensure that the mounting hole locations in the rack matched the
tapped holes in the machine bed, slotted mounting holes were used.
This eliminated the possibility of assembly headaches during
installation.
The machine was able to achieve very precise positioning using the match
racks & pinions from Atlanta. The parts the machine produced were
well within the tight tolerances demanded by the Aerospace industry.
