Achieving Higher Linear Speeds with Soft Helical Racks on CNC Routers

Customer's Problem

A CNC router manufacturer had been using low-quality diametral pitch (DP) spur racks for years on their machines.  The racks worked fine and provided decent accuracy, but their customers kept requesting better accuracy and higher linear speeds.

To achieve better accuracy, ATLANTA offered a soft helical rack to replace the low quality spur rack.  The precision milled helical rack provided smoother running and quieter operation than the existing rack and could also handle the high linear speeds that their customers wanted.

If the customer ever outgrows the soft helical rack, they can move up to a quenched & tempered helical rack, or a hardened & ground helical rack.  ATLANTA's wide range of standard rack & pinion drives allows for maximum design flexibility, so machine builders' requirements always get met.
